Root Pro's and Con's of CWM?

I was wondering what are the pro's and con's of rooting with the CWM (clockworkmod)? I saw the option of flashing with or without it.

I have rooted before but my tablet didn't support CWM at the start so I never tried it.

Pro - Flashing ROMS and such is easier
Con - No OTA updates.

Others will chime in, but those are my two.

Welcome to the forums! :)

CWM will let you make an image backup of what you have, called a nandroid backup - very handy.

It's also a convenient way to clear your cache and Dalvik cache, a good strategy to keep things running smoothly, especially after installing a buggy app that might misbehave, or when doing major updates.

It's really your number one admin tool.

If you use an OTA update won't you have to root your device again?

No, if you keep the stock recovery you will still be able to get OTA's. If you change to custom recovery (CWM or TWRP) then you would have to flash updates from recovery, or re-flash stock recovery.

I rooted right after I got my N7 when I was on JB 4.1, then got the OTA for JB 4.1.1

I've since then move past worry about any OTA and have custom kernal and custom settings for i/o, voltage, cpu etc. etc. etc.

All things that rooting allows you to do. OTA may screw those up, but not root itself (at least it's not supposed to as my understanding and experience with the 4.1.1 OTA would indicate).
