Pros Cons Difference between My-Cast and WeatherBug (Elite) Weather?

Was wondering is some was able to give the pros/cons/differences between WeatherBug and My-Cast weather??

Before the 2.2 update on the Droid Wbug elite was the only app I could find that had animated radar. The dev has also listened to what we users ask for. I had the comment about having timestamp on the radar and the next update it was there. I like getting the temp in my notifacation bar and even alerts for my area.

Now with gif's working on the 2.2 update I could prolly go to wundergeound.com and use that radar.

Interesting that you mention wunderground.com because that is THE GO-TO APP for me with weather radar on my laptop. When I first got my EVO (first time with an Android phone) I was a bit upset that Wunderground didn't have an app.

I say "interesting" about because coincidentally earlier today I read a suggestion in another forum that instead of using/buying an app, someone's best "app" solution for weather was actually the...shhhh..iPhone website for Wunderground!!

I use My Cast. I like the map view for weather alerts and then by tapping a county, it gives you the specifics. Also, the radar is extremely accurate and loads quickly.

When you open the "Forecast Text", it reads exactly like it does on the Wunderground website.

I'm extremely satisfied.


The problem with Weatherbug can be the reporting stations. My school is a reporting station, and there's no way it's completely accurate. It's not even maintained over the summer months. My Cast info comes from the NWS, not an unofficial reporting station (like a school or museum).

Does My-Cast have, for lack of a better word, "Push Alerts" to your phone for severe/other weather in your specific location??
 
I love My-Cast. I came from the Palm Pre and it wasn't available there, but I had it on all of my previous phones going back probably four years or more. And back then it was a MONTHLY charge. I gladly paid the one-time fee for My-Cast now.

I have to have an animated radar for when I play golf, and to me My-Cast has the best radar on a mobile phone out there. And I love the fact that it knows where you are via GPS so I never have to put in my location, so if I am playing a course in another city, it knows what part of the city I am in and pulls up the radar for my exact location.

It's also great for when you are traveling and want to check the weather while you're driving down the highway. It pulls up the radar for exactly where you are and you can check for any storms or warnings for that area. It came in handy for me once when I was driving home and there was a line of thunderstorms with tornados ahead of me, and I was able to keep up with the warnings and the radar. Needless to say I am real happy with My-Cast.

My Cast has the best UI I have seen in a weather app and the information it provides is amazing. Definitely worth a try.

So I had a nice thunderstorm near me here in FL and decided to download My-Cast to try out for during the 24 hour refund period.

I like the app, like all the info...whole bunch of info...good stuff. ONE THING that is disappointing, however, unless I'm doing something wrong...

I find the "zoom in" feature pretty weak. With Weatherbug you can get down to STREET LEVEL. Couple that with the "Follow Me" location settings and you can really find out what weather you are about to experience using Weatherbug and your location. With My-Cast, the zoom in was only "one zoom in" a still showed a VERY WIDE view of the area....citywide or bigger.

Is there MORE of a zoom on My-Cast or is what I am experiencing the extent of it?? :(
