Help Prove it's unlocked?

How do I demonstrate conclusively that my VZW RAZR MAXX is unlocked?

I'm putting the phone up for sale. After a reset I want to be able to prove it's unlocked. VZW people at the local store say it is. But ...um... sometimes they get things wrong.

Related to the above - to root or not to root before resale? The phone's currently rooted and works just fine, thanks. I can re-root it or leave it alone. Any ideas about what rooting (or not) does for selling the phone?

Personally if I was going to sell a phone I'd probably restore it to factory condition as best I could, and just mention that I'm willing to customize it (root, ROM, etc.) for an additional fee. :)

The only way to truly test if it's sim unlocked is to put a sim card for another carrier in and see if it asks for a pin/code. If it does, it's still locked. If not, it's unlocked.

Get a SIM from another carrier. (At most, it'll cost you a few bucks.) Or let the buyer put his SIM into the phone. If it asks for the unlock code, it's not unlocked, otherwise it is.

In fact I have had a Bahamas Telephone SIM in this phone - no problem with the SIM. Does the phone remain unlocked after a reset?
