Help proxy setting

roynolan

Lurker
My galaxy ace has started not connecting to the internet, the proxy setting is 127.0.0.1, I don't know what it used to be, but someone suggested leaving it blank, which I did, and it is fine for 5 minutes, then reverts to filling in the old proxy setting, my phone company resent the setup and it was fine again for half an hour, then reverted back to the old settings.
Everything else works fine fornon the phone all the apps, etc, just having problems with the proxy
Thanks in advance

127.0.0.1 is the numeric address of the phone itself. (It's the address of whatever device it's in - like saying "me".) The phone may need a firmware reflash. (Or there may be a hardware problem.) A phone using itself as a proxy is lifting itself up by its own bootstraps - it doesn't do anything (not even work, as you already know).

Thanks, but firmware reflash means nothing and seems very complicated to me.
Is there an easy way to do this, or what number should be in proxy, or how do I keep it empty (as this is the only time I can connect to WiFi) but I still don't understand why all my apps update and are available in real time and all work perfectly and update with the wrong proxy.
Sorry if I sound a bit thick, just not very technically minded.

How long has it been doing this?I've had providers/carriers that were at fault but would never admit it and then miraculously the fault went after a few days once they had been notified ;-)
