PSA for folks in NYS: DEC interacts w/Google Earth

I thought some may be interested in the NYS DEC interactive widgets that work with Google Earth. I don't praise NY much but these are kind of nice.

There are quite a few, including Public Fishing, Fishing Streams, Lakes, Land, Horse Trails, Hiking Trailes, etc... . I know that they work on WinBlows laptops/desktops but haven't checked for Android or IOS. I suspect they're just WinBlows based but some of you may enjoy or find them useful.

I haven't tried it, but according to this (Managing KML and KMZ files on mobile devices - Google Earth Blog) the ability to view KMZ files (the format NYDEC is providing) was added about a year ago to Android.

Anyway, that is a cool resource for Android and something I'm going to check into if my state has it.

I use my Garmin GPSMap 76 CSx for all of my outdoor activities, just thought these may prove interesting for some folks - thanks for the info though, I didn't realize the format was recognized by Android.

Yeah, looks like Massachusetts has them available too. Of course in classic Mass Hole fashion you need to click 17 different links to actually get to the maps, but they are there.
