Help Public Wi-Fi connectivity

I am not using a carrier for my phone and use it purely off of public wi-fi. I usually use the same 3-4 places (Library, Starbucks, Gym, etc.). When calling people via facetime, my calls will often drop. After some time, I realized that I would always get disconnected anytime a new person came into/left the building even if there were only 2 other people. The Wi-Fi would not auto-reconnect (despite saying that it was connected) until I turned off the Wi-Fi setting on my phone and turn it back on.
To reiterate, these are popular areas, so a lot of foot traffic comes through for 5-15 minutes at a time. And, once I reconnect, the download speeds go back to +50mbps.

Is the issue with my phone or is it the router logs somehow being oversaturated with connected devices throughout the day?

FaceTime is Apple's proprietary video calling service and Apple refuses to open it up to Android. You might get better support if you ask on an Apple help forum instead. (But note that a) FaceTime runs through Apple servers and b) online chats involve download and upload connectivity and most U.S. providers arbitrarily limit upload speeds to be quite a bit less than download speed. That might not even part of the problem you're experiencing but again, you'll probably get more relevant answers on an Apple forum. )
