Purchase/activation at corporate stores vs. authorised dealers.

Is there any difference? Someone told me when I buy a new phone to avoid the little "hole in the wall" metro stores and buy it at a corporate store.

Any basis for this?

They said some dealers won't honor warranty/insurance issues.

Never dealt with a non Metro corporate store so I cant comment on that. I have dealt with a Sprint Dealer store before it was pretty bad. They said the phone had a rebate it did not.

They said they contacted my previous provider and canceled my old contract when porting my number over it would take 24hrs for the number to become active on the head set. This never happened ended up having to spend days talking to sprint to getting this worked out.

Soon after the dealer went out of business so all the support they given me was gone along with any type of warranty support they offered.

I say either go to a Metro corp store or buy directly from there website.

Kidnap or bribe any Chinese acquaintance with your firstborn's hand in marriage, to take you to your Chinatown...they're there to make deals, will share part of their commission to entice more sales.

I do not work for a corporate store, I work at an authorized dealer. We buy the same phones and have access to the system to return/warranty phones. Some may not have taken the time to get access or learn how to do it..I did because I didn't want to keep sending my customers to a corporate store to handle it.

When porting a number the best information to have is an account number and PIN to give to a dealer. When we port the number with just an IMEI number it 'usually'doesnt get ported. No one gives us notification it fails until the customer tells us and we give them the correct info to finish the port. Sometimes its instant, sometimes its a few hours...sometimes 24hrs

Ive dealt with metro dealers and I rather make the drive to a corporate store (culver city for me). Just last week I went to buy a phone at a dealer shop and they wrote FINAL SALE on the receipt! I walked right out! I know corporate will give me a week with the phone and if it has less than 2 hours of talk time Im able to return it!
Ive also gone in to change my plan and they kept telling me they do not have that sort of access to change plans!

really? they've always told me 2 hours even when I switch phones only and not go in as a "new customer" ...Ive never have gone back to return a phone but Ive always felt a bit better knowing I could having limited usage on it instead of a big fat Final Sale written on it
