So when you go to a store to buy a "NEW" item you expect a "NEW" item rite? Well come to find out my phone isnt new but pre owned and revamped, certified etc etc. bla bla, they continue telling me they dont make "NEW" Samsung S3 phones anymore for the phone is older now & it is what it is, you cant get them "NEW" anymore (Really? Is this true?) Then to my amazement I get home, finsh charging it up, then I start playing w/ my (pre owned, certified) phone & notice that I can see my key board behind light colored screens, like if i have a white back ground web page goin or something of light color I can see my texting keyboard in the background, not dominant really but I can see all the keys, numbers etc etc. real faint like but its there, (this normal?) So far im very disappointed w/ my purchase, phone etc. Any help is appreciated, im headin back to the store here shortly to have a talk w/ these folks and get another phone or exchange for a different S3.

First - it's not normal.

If you can see a slight background image, the phone has screen burn. There are plenty of used S3's around that do not have screen burn.

That will not go away - you will be stuck with it.

Depending upon what you paid for it, you probably want a refund. Screen burn, water damage, and charger port issues are the things I check first when I buy used phones for resale.

Phones with screen burn should cost significantly less than those without it. So, if you are paying a lot, then the screen should be clean. If you are paying for one with screen burn, it should be significantly less expensive, depending upon how bad it is.

There are new S3's around, but they're very expensive. You see them on ebay quite often.

Well im not paying alot for it, only like 49.99 for my 2yr upgrade thru my local store so basically its FREE. I been w/ this carrier for 15+yrs and they always treated me fairly until now, kinda upsetting, shouldnt I be getting a NEW phone from my carrier or are they allowed to do this? Or am I stuck w/ pre-used/owned?

You're not likely to get a new one, because they don't make them any more. I would expect refurbished.

However, a refurbished one should not have screen burn. If you are paying for it in connection with a 2 yr contract extension, there's no way I would accept a phone with screen burn, because you're locking in to 2 yrs.

I recently upgraded all of the phones in our family (5). Even though we have been with the same carrier for 15+ years, we bought used phones, with no contract extensions. If we get tired of them for some reason, we'll unlock them and change carriers.

I have a couple of questions for you, but they might be better in PM, that might help you.

So I waited til the store opened & took my phone back w/out hesitation as did THEY as well. They seen the issue I was having & gave me no issues about it what so ever & gave me another phone in its place. They said they had never seen one as bad as mine, although I thought it was minor but it still bothered the dickens outta me.

So again, if you ever have a "ghosting" of a sort where you can see your texting keyboard on other areas of your phone IE - websites, note, email etc. do know its NOT normal & should be taken back immediately & there is NO fix for it but to exchange it. Thank ya, have a good day, cheers folk's!
