Lurker
:(If I am conected to WIFI i get my mails and messages from whatsapp perfectly and instantly. Every time I am only conected to the network I have to open the application either mail or whatsapp to get the new messages sent. Anybody have the same issues? how can I fix this?:(:(:(

You are better off to NOT get notifications.

Why? better battery life.

i for one do NOT want instant notifications on anything.
When I get around to looking at my email, or my messages is good enough.

I noticed a lot of difference when I turned OFF all of that stuff, battery life is a lot better.

Hi, I don't get any push notifications for email, ebay, facebook, etc until I pull up in my driveway and my wifi connects to my galaxy s5. I would like to receive push notifications for selected apps regardless of battery life. Could someone please advise on how this is done, I feel like I've tried everything!?
Thanks

Just disabling notifications, without actually turning off the mobile data connection itself (or disabling the auto-sync for individual apps) isn't really going to give a noticeable improvement in battery life.
The notification is not what consumes most battery life, but it is the actual data sync (your Email auto-refreshing, etc)

Turning off your data connection of course would save a significant amount of battery life, but then, for some (most?) people (including me), the point of a data connection on my smartphone *is* to get notified about important stuff when I'm out and about :)

Not saying that everybody needs constant connectivity - I know folks who just turn data connection off on their phones completely, and find that very peaceful/calming.

@mzz - do you have battery saving mode enabled? If so, that MAY be disabling auto-sync. (I don't have the S5, so can't confirm for sure)
