Generally when devices pass through the FCC they don’t reveal much. Sure we can occasionally get a few dimensions and/or radio bands, but they typically reveal little else. When it comes to an upcoming wireless charger made by Motorola — which made a pit stop by the FCC — the Commission may have revealed a […]

Hmmm... ...I always thought wireless charging was gimmicky, but for a smartwatch it makes a lot of sense.

I think it makes just as much sense for a phone. I LOVE my wireless charger. In fact, I ruled out buying the One+ one specifically because it doesn't support wireless charging.

Oh yeah wireless charging rocks. The only weird thing is it being the only method of charging... what if you're in your car? You'll have to have a car Qi charger I guess. And then one for the office. I understand the sleek design idea, but a mini USB would have been a good feature.

Still not a deal breaker because that's one good looking watch.

It didn't completely rule out another charging option, but I can see merit in not having a USB port. It would make it much easier to waterproof with no holes in it.:dontknow:

Yeah that's a good point too, the waterproof factor. You know, I guess as long as it has a Maxx type battery life it shouldn't matter quite as much. I was a bit disappointed at the LG G's projected battery life.

+1 in the "no need for usb" camp. If it will actually last for days w/o a charge, are you ever going to scramble to find a charger for it? AND...it's just a watch, not a phone. If it dies NBD, just use the phone.

I have been using a Pebble watch for a while now and I just always get in the habit of turning it off once I take it off at home. This way the Pebble actually lasts me like a week without charging.

I also have a wireless charger for my Nexus 5 and I do not see a need for alternative charging methods. As long as you remember to put it on the charger at night then you are fine all day. And like another post says when my Pebble watch battery dies I just take it off and put it away and remember to charge it over night so I can use it the next day.

anyone know of a good portable qi charger that I can use with my m360? I hate wearing a dead shiny trinket...

I purchased the powerbot yesterday in anticipation of my watch coming in. Got the one with the blue ring to match what the watch looks like as it charges.

My charger arrived today. Now I just need the dang watch, haha. That's okay, I'm prepared.

Joe, so you have your Note 3 set up for wireless charging? If not, you should get a receiver from amazon for cheap and test out the charger.

At least it will be set up for your wife, when you upgrade later.

Can you recommend a receiver? I've never worried about wireless charging because I own multiple batteries and an external charger.

That keeps NFC working, as well as wireless charging. What I don't recommend is using the double-sided tape that they have attached. Instead, I recommend lining it up with the contacts and placing a piece of rolled up scotch tape on the back side of the receiver (so that it sticks to the back cover, rather than the phone/battery itself). That way, if you ever have to do a battery pull or replace the battery, the receiver will be in place to re-connect when you put the back cover back on.

Reason I recommend the receiver vs. the OEM replacement back cover is sue to the OEM back cover being slightly thicker (enough for a person not to be able to use certain cases).

My PB1020 is waiting for me at home :) I brought my Nokia DB-900 to work.

UGH. Slightly disappointed that it didn't come with an AC wall plug. Oh well.

Edit: Not a big deal. I attached the generously long cable to my computer's USB port. I have something to connect my 360 to in my den.

If I may add an addendum to this thread.... using a non Motorola charger that is Qi compliant is perfectly acceptable. I have now used three different Qi chargers on my 360 and not once have I experienced any overheating or spontaneous combustion. Anyone telling you differently is trying to get you to spend money on something you don't need.
