Quadrant Benchmark Test Results Note 4

shawnnote4

Newbie
Hello guys and gals,
Hope all is well in your corner of the universe. I am new to this forum. I just bought a note 4 from sprint, so far I am loving it! I just ran the quadrant benchmark (please see screen shot below)
I would like some feedback on the results. Are you guys getting similar results? It is within the "to be excepted" range? Slow, Okay, fast?
Thank you all in advance.
Shawn

WELCOME TO ANDROID FORUMS shawnnote4 !
ATM,I cannot see your screenshot,(may be a restriction for new members until your post count reaches a certain minimum).
Feel free to post the numbers/data in the meantime, but,I'll put in my 2c on benchmarks:
Running benchmarks can be entertaining, specially when comparing to others w/the same phone.
Way back when, about three years ago,a bunch of us used to see who could break the 1,000 barrier w/ANTUTU Benchmark on our entry-level/underpowered HUAWEI ASCEND.

Anyhoo, most tech-savvy (not me,just an enthusiastic ANDROID user:)),will tell you that, unless under lab-controlled conditions, benchmark testing conclusions are subjective at best & border on pseudo-science.
If your phone is performing well & does everything you want it to,I wouldn't get caught up in the #'s & enjoy your phone, there's lots to like w/the NOTE4.

Thank you for the detailed explanation Kolio, it is much appreciated. Sorry you are unable to see the screen shot image. For your review, I have listed the results below. I seem to be obsessed with this device, I will not let benchmark results swayed me nor will I let it tug on the anchor of sanity. LoL. You are absolutely right, it is indeed entertaining.

Your device: 25355
Total: 25355
CPU: 96707
Mem: 17155

Here's my QUADRANT Scores:

Overall:23816
CPU:88252
MEMORY:18706
I/O:10665
2D:168
3D:1287
I'm running a de-bloated ROM & if a higher score is better, go figure on the results comparison.
I usually run benchmarks in Airplane mode, to best control variables, but, I just ran this one as-is.

Please allow me to politely divulge the following. I am running stock ROM (kitkat 4.4.4). I have, however, made considerable changes. For example, I disabled all (allowed) bloatware. I disabled flipboard, enabled developer options and changed animation, transition, animator scales from 1x to 0.5x. Disabled S Voice from launching when home key is depressed. Disabled lock screen animation. Placed all allowed apps on 16GB SD card. I am using less than 1GB of the devices internal memory. Perhaps these changes made the noticeable difference? Oh, I uninstalled google chrome, why? I found the stock "internet" browser is mush more responsive, seems to load pages faster. Please note I have an unsophisticated understanding/knowledge when it comes to android browsers. Which do you use? Why? Again, thank you for being so generous with your expertise and time. I am grateful for it.

No expertise here, just an enthusiastic ANDROID user.:)
Everything you've done is what I usually do to try to get the best (most accurate?) benchmark score.
The only thing that I can think of to get an even more accurate score(?) is to run the test in airplane & safe mode, short of performing a factory data reset & side loading the QUADRANT app & running the benchmark.
I'll shut down all running processes/run in airplane mode & see what I come up with.
Be right back..........................

Looks like you have to buy the Advanced or Professional version to view off-line results.
This is one reason when I used to run benchmarking on a frequent basis I used ANTUTU,which is free,or,at least you don't have to buy a pro version to run/view off-line results.
Anyhoo,I ran the test several times again & came up with similar results,in the upper 23k range for overall score.

On occasion,I switch over to a CYANOGENMOD 12 ROM & when the occasion arises,I'll run QUADRANT & see what I come up with.
On 2nd thought,I haven't ran CM12 in a week or so.Lemme back-up my current ROM & data & I'll be back in a bit w/results......

Excellent, thank you. Please let me know if you have additional tips on what else I can tweak within the stock ROM in effort to make the device even faster. Although, I must admit, device already feels super fast. I am asking because you are the self proclaimed enthusiastic ANDROID user.:) and seem to know far more than I do on the subject matter.

OK,I just loaded-up CM-12 & PICO GAPPS,it doesn't get much leaner than that.
QUADRANT Scores are a lot lower,that is,if a lower value=lower score.
Overall score was 14800,consistently.
So,I dunno what to make of benchmark testing, but, here's what I have on my T-MO NOTE 4:

DARTHSTALKER ROM (TOUCH-WIZ 4.4.4 Based): 23,800 on-average.
CYANOGENMOD 12: 14,800 on-average.

Thank you for running the various ROMs and providing the test results. Like you said, they are not a true representation of real world performance nor are they consistent. The true test of these devices are performed daily, in laboratory of our life. :)

This caveat is what one gets when the scores are not too favorable!

Question for the two gentlemen. As of this morning, sprint pushed lollipop and made it available for me to download. Should I? Have you any experience with lollipop? Any known bugs running lollipop on the Note 4?

There's a thread specifically for the SPRINT version w/Lollipop Update. You'd be better served asking those who've already taken the update.
I can't say, my only hands-on w/Lollipop is a CM12 ROM, not exactly an apples-to-apples comparison.

Sorry for being ignorant, possible for you to provide url leading to this specific discussion? Clearly, left to my own devices, I am unable to find.
Thanks,
Shawn

Dear Guys,

I am happy to see your results but unfortunately after I upgrade to lollipop I ran the quadrant benchmark and it gave very low results only 6000 plus then I ran it again it gave 4000 plus which very very low. I am really confused please kindly guide if anything wrong.

Regards,

sadiq
