Help quadrant scoring??

Hi peeps,
Im looking for advice and support on upgrading to the gingerbread release, I have a rooted phone, i'm fairly confident with geeking out but just need that little extra support.
Im a massive android supporter think its the best thing since sliced bread!
The only issue i have also is my quadrant score only being 957??
Can somebody enlighten me to how and why this is??

thankyou
kirsty xx

quadrant score means nothing are you on 2.2....i installed the leaked ginger bread 2.3.2 rom for about 12 hours then whent back to stock 2.2.1 jpy the ginger bread rom is only a test or a beta release and a few things are missing so if i was you stay with 2.2 untill the proper update gets released

if not join and post in the section in the link what phone you have got firmware and ask how to update to 2.2.1 if any thing goes wrong they will sort you out better then me but nothing will go wrong as i bricked my phone with one of darkys roms and reflashed it back to 2.1 then kies updated my phoe to 2.2.1

Before you go down the route of upgrading your firmware manually, I take it you have installed the latest version of Samsung Kies and checked that you can't upgrade via this?

Flashing the firmware manually using Odin is definitely not for the faint hearted and the prior to trying anything have a good read through all the instructions.

After 6 months of using Odin I finally went back to kies at the beginning of February and unfashionable and dull as it might be my SGS running stock (i.e. unmodified) 2.2.1 firmware is fantastic.

Forgot to mention. Forget about quadrant score (particularly with custom ROMS) as these can plain and simply be written to provide extremely high scores, but provide little to no benefit in the day to day experience. If your SGS makes an iphone look naff it's where it should be

Is your phone network specific? if it's an unbranded/unlocked handset then 2.2.1 is available officially via keis 2. To check if your phones network locked enter *#7465625# into the dialpad.

When I was on 2.2 my quadrant score was always roughly 950, Until I rooted and lagfixed and was then getting almost 1000 more.
Even on 2.2.1 the Quadrant score isn't going to be as high as 2.2 with lagfix, roughly 1400ish, BUT quadrant score doesn't mean much to the regular user.
2.2.1 is MUCH more stable than 2.2 with lagfix, so if you can get 2.2.1 officially then do it, if not, ODIN id the only way, and it's surprisingly easy to use as long as you read up on how to's and guides first.
And as usual, there's alot of people here who can help.
