Help question about a symbol

Hello guys i got this symbol today on my htc desire x. I send two messages to my GF (pretty big messages - around 300 symbols.) And i got this on my message thread. The messages status is SEND but this symbol worries me.. The symbol is the same , only the color is red.

Are you sending on your mobile data connection or wifi? Also is it a long text where it would be converted to mms? Finally do you have data enabled on your device?

well i send it on my mobile data connection. It was a long text messages but they were not converted to MMS. Tonight i sent a new very long message on my other phone and i received it (without this symbol) With or without this symbol the messages status is "sent" I just dont know what this symbol means , and i hope my GF received the messages , because there were a very important info and she can't answer me now. I asked one of my friends about this symbol , and he got this symbol when he was deleting some files... I apologise for my bad english but it's not my native I hope u guys will not judge me too much.
