Help Question About Buying Phone overseas

Hello,
I live in New Zealand where everything is known to be extremely expensive and i am going to USA and Canada next week. I decided i want a GS3 that i buy over in the US and bring back to New Zealand. A GS3 16gb International version is 1050$ here and i saw in US i can buy a GS3 from AT&T for 550$ USD, much cheaper (note that the exchange to NZD brings it to about 700$).
I have a few questions

  1. Does it have any markings on it that say the carrier name? Like at the top say AT&T because i have seen that on some phones.
  2. I found a site where they can send me an unlock code for like 10$, so if i buy a code and unlock an AT&T GS3 i will be able to put my Vodafone NZ sim card in and use it as if it was an international version.
  3. just incase, how much does the GS3 international cost in the US and where do i buy one? I will be passing through Duty free and will be in seattle for a couple of days.
Thanks for all your help.
Tom
