question about getting better service with global phones

i have a Droid Incredible right now, and i get very crappy service when im at school with my phone. in most class rooms i get very bad service, usually 1 or no bars and very slow 3g. but my friend who also has an android phone and is on AT&T gets much better service, 3 or 4 bars also 3g, so i guess verizon is just bad in the area my school is.

but if i had a Droid 2 global, or a Incredible HD or any other global phone for verizon will i get any better service? will it be as fast as if it was an AT&T phone? also when LTE comes out and i get an LTE phone eventually is there any chance of getting 4G on verizon in that area?

If it doesn't find any CDMA carriers (Verizon/Sprint) it will probably fall back on international roaming in GSM mode. However, I'm not sure how much you would get charged. Sprint has a deal with Verizon so it doesn't cost extra to roam on their network, but I'm not sure how much it would cost for a Verizon customer to roam on AT&T. I would probably forget about data, since data roaming generally has a pretty hefty charge attached to it.
