question about model numbers

I'm considering buying a galaxy S7.
My network is AT&T.
There is the model number SM-G930A and unlocked, which I think was originally made as locked for the AT&T network.
And there us the SM-G930U, which I think was made as unlocked for any network.

Is there an advantage to getting one model # over the other?

The 930A, even though it may be carrier unlocked, it is still AT&T branded and will come with AT&T bloat apps pre-installed. Usually AT&T branded phones will only receive OTA updates if you have a active AT&T Sim.
The 930U should not have any carrier branding and only the usual Samsung bloat apps installed and should work on any carrier. Software updates should come straight from Samsung.

Thanks, Jfalls.
I'm sorry, what is OTA?
Why is it better to get software updates straight from Samsung?

OTA, Software Updates over the air through your carrier or manufacturer.
Software Updates straight from Samsung is normally delivered quicker and won't include carrier added bloat.
Normal update path is Google - Manufacturer - Carrier - User.
Unbranded devices eliminate Carrier.
