Question about switching plans...

Newbie
I am currently a College student with a Droid Eris. Being a college student, I don't have the luxury of an existing line of credit tied to my name (yet). The current plan I am on is actually tied to my father's account and he is looking to switch to straight talk. Would it be possible to take my existing line (and plan) and move them to my step-fathers account? If anyone can answer this, it would be a great help! Thank you in advance!

You'd have to ask your carrier. It's not an Android-specific thing. AFAIK most carriers will allow for transfers of responsibility but each probably has different restrictions.

Verizon will do an assumption of liability on your line and transfer it to your step-father's account...he will then "own" your number (like your father does now, but don't worry, you can always do another assumption of liability down the road). You will be on his family account/plan then, so whatever plan he has is what you will have. You will share his minutes but still need the data plan.

This is correct, plus there is no etf.
