question about switching to spint

shellT12

Lurker
I have been with Verizon for 2 years and I am tired of the $60 bills coming each month (for a feature phone) and subpar phones. I already liked sprint's $70 unlimited texting and data plan with 450 minutes and was thinking about switching but when I saw the HTC evo 3d it sealed the deal (will be my first smartphone). I heard from a friend that there is a bonus for porting your number from another carrier to sprint, I was wondering what exactly it is and if it will still be available when the evo 3d comes out.

Thanks in advance.

Believe it is $125 and who knows how long...After you get over ask about the free 300 minutes (again I don't know if it is still being offered).

The port in credit ends on the 23rd. The 3D comes out on the 24th.

You'd have to get a free phone before it ends and then return it once the Evo comes out to get the credit.

Yea, as others said, the port in credit ends the 23rd and EVO 3D comes out the 24th. You could buy a sprint phone before the 23rd and then go exchange it for on the 24th for the EVO 3D. For the $125 port in credit, I am pretty sure you have to purchase from Sprint to get it (online, phone, or Sprint store). After you port your number, you have to fill out the port in application within 72 hours.. so don't wait around. The $125 credit shows on your bill as "valued customer credit" 61 days later.

Details and port in credit application here:

also.. look around for discounts on your monthly bill.

you can call sprint.. ask.. about your employer... or banking you use... or AAA.. or where your parents work?

there are plenty.. that spring gives discounts too.. you should be able to find one.
10-20% off your monthly bill!

Good point! And, very true. Sprint offers a monthly discount for pretty much everyone.

Look through the Google doc's here: http://androidforums.com/sprint/81670-do-i-qualify-discount.html#post769879

If u do that & return the 1st phone for the Evo3d then will u get the 'new customer' reduced price? Seems like they could use a loophole & say that 'technically' u arent new. Thoughts?

Yes, you'll still get the new customer price. And, No, Sprint is not using any loophole's like that. Sprint is pretty sincere and honest on their return/exchange policy. As long as you are within the 30 days, the ball is in your court. Sprint's customer service ratings haven't gone from poor to number 1 by using shady tactics like that.
