Question about unlimited plans...

We have (3) data plans on our account that we signed up for back in the day when data was "unlimited" (even though we all know that doesn't mean totally unlimited).

But, we recently added a data plan to one of the lines on our plan that was NOT data in the past. That account with the VZW app that shows usage on the phone (it's a T-Bolt), shows X.XXG out of 2GB.

But, when I look at that same app on my RAZR, mine shows X.XXG out of Unlimited.

We pay the same amount for both plans, $30/month.

I just figured that they were limited to the 2GB, because it changed to that, especially since my RAZR is now a 4G phone. Are these old plans really still "unlimited", or are they limited to the 2GB, regardless of 3G vs. 4G phone?

As far as I'm aware, Verizon Wireless recently got rid of unlimited data plans. Those who do have them, get to keep them. For the same amount of $30/month, users are now limited to 2GB/month.

As far as 4G goes, I recall someone mentioning that there are unlimited plans for those still available.

If you had the unlimited plan before about July of this year then you keep the unlimited plan when you upgrade. doesn't matter if it is 4g or 3g. My sister got a iphone 4 in June and got unlimited plan and still has it. I had the OG droid(got it 2 years ago) then got a razr and still have the unlimited plan. Answer your question?

Same here...............:D

Right now their 4g double data promo where you get 4gb for $30. Just call Verizon and ask for it. All you have to have is a 4g phone.

It seems that verizon's unlimited, really is unlimited though (aside from tethering being extra).

If you have unlimited data, and add 4g hotspot, it looks like there is no cap on it when I add the $30 plan, is that correct?

Hummm... That's a good idea. Does anyone know if this is a limited time deal, or once you've added this, it stays at 4GB for the life of that account?, or is only 4GB for something like 6 months?

Its 4gb for as long as you keep it! No set time. I don't know how long the promo is but it's still available!

I just verified that you can get it if you ask. We got my daughters T-Bolt on 11/3, and they gave her the deal.

WOOHOO!!!

I was a bit worried that I would lose it. Even when signing up for the upgrade, it stated I would need to call in if my phone statement doesn't show "unlimited".

just so you guys know for sure..if you had a unlimited plan and upgraded you will still have "unlimited" and your plan will show $29.99, if you got the new tiered data plan then it will be $30.00 on your bill. I know this because when I upgraded they switched me to the and I had to call customer service to make sure I was grandfathered in..and it went back to $29.99

That is correct, I have 4g unlimited as well as the $30 tethering and it is really unlimited. I used the Verizon Data Usage widget and I see the data going up while tethering. Showing 608mb / unlimited.

Technically it is still not unlimited, for the old plan the basic wisdom was it limited to 5gb and you'd get throttled or bitched at by Verizon...

Verizon would only throttle you if it was really congested and you where ridiculous high in data usage well beyond 5 gb. Its very rare if at all that they would throttle someone. Ive seen my brother at 15 gb just fine and that's 2 weeks of usage.
