Root Question concerning flashing ROM's

Okay I followed the guide here to unlock and root my phone and I succeeded, I bought and installed both ROM manager and Titanium backup, and before I go any further I have some questions.

Okay, my carrier is Alltel, CDMA, and I could not find a stock ROM or RUU for it on the brick thread, only sprint, but in recovery mode I backed up my current system before installing supersu, using cwm recovery in HBOOT so I have a backup I believe of my current ROM before I even install a custom ROM, so if I was to install a custom ROM and want to revert back to me stock ROM would I be able to use that back up and go back to a phone that could receive carrier updates through my service provider?

Because if all else fails I would like to have a stock ROM to fall. Back on jsut in case something like I break my phone and have to send it in to get repaired

And also if installing custom roms could screw with my radio bands on my phone?

And last what rooted apps would you guys recommend?

Backup your phone from one of the apps you just got ; rom manager, titanium backup etc. with the backups you will be able to restore your phone to its current state with little to no trouble. (just in case you should save one to your computer too)

As far as reverting back to a system that could receive carrier updates... maybe. Any of the cdma based custom roms should work for you, just make sure you dont download a gsm copy on accident. As far as the basebands etc. the custom rom wouldn't affect that you'd have to use cdma workshop/qpst/etc to do something like that but thats for another post i suppose.

as far as good root programs: there are tons, one of my favorites is no-frills cpu control which allows you to tune n manage processor limits for things like overclocking etc.
