Question regarding data speeds im Tampa, Fl

I am currentyl with Metro Pcs and considering switching to Sprint. My question is : How are the 4g and 3g speed in Tampa/Brandon area? I have a 4g phone with metro and get about 3 to 5 mbps down and 2 to 3 up. I dont want to switch to Sprint and end up with slower data speeds.

Also , is the 3g halfway decent? I mean, at least 1 to 2 mbps up and down?

Thanks!

You have pretty solid data speeds right now, it sounds. Sprint probably wont beat those speeds at the moment (but I dont live in Tampa).. However, Sprint is under a major network overhaul/upgrade right now, So I'd imagine, Sprint will easily be able to beat your data speeds within the next year or two. The major advantage to Sprint over MetroPCS is Sprint gives you unlimited data and a nationwide network. If you are interested in the progression of Sprints network upgrades, check out s4gru.com Particularly, http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/212-network-visionlte-deployment-running-list/ This link gives a list of the currently announced cities to get Sprint network upgrades.. it is updated 2 or 3 times a week.. so check it frequently. Hope this helps!

I know they are upgrading to lte , and at that point their speeds will peobably surpass metros, was just wondering if I should make the switch now or hold off. Speeds are decent here, and I dont travel much. I pay $35 a month for unlimited everything (excluding video streaming, which I dont use anyway).

I think I will stay with Metro until Sprint rolls out lte, at which point I will consider switching. Att, and verizon are nowhere near my price range.

yea, ATT and Verizon are overpriced. If I were you, I would wait a couple months, and check Sprint out when they release their LTE phones... this should be a pretty exciting summer at Sprint.

PS. does MetroPCS exclude streaming music from their "unlimited" too? (or just streaming video)

EDIT: I just saw "Stream 100 MB of music, video and other media on your phone" on the MetroPCS website. So, I guess Metro is more limited than I thought.

It's very misleading what they consider "multimedia streaming access"

I recently switched to from the $60 unlimited everything, down to $50 1gb streaming access. I use Youtube, IheartRadio, TuneinRadio, and Pandora almost every day, and my data meter never moves.

The only apps I have found that move the meter are HboGo, and Netflix. Basically everything else (that I use, anyway) don't count against "multimedia streaming"

After finding that out, I switched to the $40 unlimited plan with 100mb streaming access, as I don't use Netflix or HBOgo over 4g anyway.

Thanks for your help, btw!

Tampa is getting LTE for the second round of deployment.

Edit: I just did a speed test.
With 3G I got .77Mbps download and 0.35Mbps upload
With 4G (only 1 bar of 4G) I got 10.73Mbps down and 1.19Mbps up.
