QUESTION: what Network Band will Verizon 3-4G GSM work?

HI EVERYBODY,
i heard that Verizon will soon start using normal GSM Network for the new generation of 3G & 4G Phones, leaving finally the limited CDMA Network that doesn't allow Multi-Transmission Operations, and i was wondering what Network Spectrum they will use... the normal networks available in the US are the 850Mhz, 900Mhz, 1700Mhz, 1900Mhz, 2100Mhz

for their respective 3G Networks

AT&T uses 850Mhz
T-Mobile uses 1700Mhz
Sprint uses 1900Mhz

SO... will Verizon use 900Mhz or 2100Mhz?

Or are they coming up with a new Frequency on their own?

Does anyone know?

Because i have a friend that is looking to buy an Android Phone (Galaxy S) but he doesn't know on what 3G Network Spectrum Verizon will work.

Thank's for any info

Verizon will be using LTE which is GSM based but not GSM. LTE is 700mhz and as of right now its data only.
Their radios will still be CDMA operating on 900/1900mhz.

If your friend wants a Galaxy S Android phone, he needs to buy the Fascinate. Nothing else will work on Verizon's network. Verizon 3G is CDMA2000-based EVDO, and that's never going to change.

Lte is not GSM based.

Further more gsm data technologies are cdma based.

lte will use the 700mhz spectrum, which means slightly better penetration but less throughput, per watt. In the end, lte-a will use all the spectrum, including att's and tmobiles. I would not like to place the chicken and the egg on 3g/4g/lte/wifi/wimax/cdma/gsm conversation. It is a little more complicated then that. But Iowa has the basics down. But in every technological way, they are more like sisters/brothers then one coming from the other.

GSM uses UMTS/HPSA/HSPA+ as their data techonologies, which came after the original GSM technology, which was GPRS.

Probably important to note that a large portion of the GSM data network in this country is in fact still EDGE (2G) which is based solely on time division like the original GSM/GPRS standard, and that UMTS is the standard for 3G+ GSM data.
