Question

Howdy folks, not exactly sure which forum this belongs, but this seemed appropriate. I'm debating getting an Android phone in the near future, but sadly don't know anyone locally where I can toy with the OS, see if I like it. So I downloaded the SDK and have been tinkering with the emulator. With the emulator you can start it with the -shell flag to get a root shell into the phone, now my question is can something like that be done with a real phone or is that simply a dev tool with the emulator?

Hmm... well I'm mostly looking at that new phone, Agora from Kogan that runs Android. Though a dev phone may not be a terrible idea either. I'm a Linux nut, and by nature I like to tinker with things (read: break them then get mad) hehe.
