Questions about buying an unlimited plan off eBay

I think I'm going to take the plunge and pay $200 to get an unlimited data line.
From what I understand, the way it works is I do an assumption of liability, meaning I take charge of the line they're selling, and it gets put on my account.
Now my question is, can I drop my limited data line and move my phone number to the unlimited line? I'm sure there'll be an ETF involved and I'd be willing to pay it. I just want to keep my number.
One option that may be possible is to port my number to Google voice, but the problem with that is no MMS with Google voice, and I'd have to use the Google voice app to text from my number.

Generally speaking, you can't move phone numbers around on your account, especially when one number is under contract and the other isn't. The only exception I can think of is that when you port a number in, you can use the ported number to replace the existing Verizon number (they want to make it easy for you to test Verizon and then switch).

I don't think you're going to be able to do what you want without porting your number out, paying the ETF, and then porting your number back in over the assumed line. Now none of that /should/ cause you to lose the unlimited data, but CSRs being as they are, a mistake might happen, so you should consider how much time you're willing to invest in this process.

With Google looking to improve Hangouts to include SMS and incorporate Google Voice, I'd look to see your issues with Google Voice disappear over the next 6-12 months. In your shoes, I'd just port to GV and train my friends to e-mail me pictures.

Well I'm thinking if I do this, I'll port my number to Google voice, drop the limited data line, port my number to the unlimited line.

1. It's a violation of the customer agreement for the other party to sell off their service.

2. It's against VZW Policy to have your # disconnected and reserved on top of another line of service if your # is still in a contract. They will only do your request if your # is out of contract.

b. If your # was ported into VZW, all bets are off. If you have your line disconnected, your # will most likely go back to the original service provider.

Well of course I'd pay the ETF for porting my number away from VZW.
The part about the violation of selling the aol, I haven't read anywhere about Verizon pursuing charges. It may not be legal, but it would be either too hard or too common to try and seek charges.
And I've researched this. You can port your number to another provider, then same day port your number to another provider.

Google voice ports do take about a full day to complete. I actually just ported my Verizon number to it last week.

I've read there's problems with getting received receipts if you port your number from GV to VZW.
And I couldn't find any unlimited plans on eBay for less than $300, so I don't think it's likely that I'll be getting one lol.

I wish I knew you were in the market for one. I just closed my account up this past week that had two unlimited plans on it. I would have given it away just to get out of the ETF's :(

I snagged one on eBay for less than $300. I'll try howardforums tomorrow. Stupid registration requires a puzzle that I can't do from a tablet.
Also, I would like to add, auctionsniper.com is awesome and you first three snipes are free. I don't think I'll pay for the service because I'm only on eBay like once a year.
