Quick GV question regarding area code

i live in the 916 area code region but there are no more slots for phones numbers from that area and i read that 530 split from 916 so i was wondering if they were considered long distance calls if i make my number 530 instead of 916.

No it's not considered long distance. You can pick any area code you want.

Well...it may be long distance or toll for someone using a land line. Not all folks have unlimited everything, some still do get charged for toll and long distance calls.
For you, making and receiving calls is fine. It's probably fine for almost everyone you know too. For the most part there is no more long distance...but it is still out there.
