Help Quiet speakers kitkat

After updating to kitkat my phones boomsound speakers are much quieter thank before the update, anybody else have the same issue?
 
Same here. I recall seeing similar complaints on HTC One and One Mini forums re Kit Kat upgrades.
 
On the native music app, if you swipe to the right to the visualization screen the volume increases. Not sure why.
 
I may have found a possible fix, turn off fastboot first
1. Power off phone
2. Hold down power and volume down until you're in hboot
3. Go down to the recovery option using volume to choose and power to select
4. You will reach a screen with a warning type symbol
5. Quickly press volume up and power at the same time to get into recovery
6. Go down and select wipe cache partition
7. Reboot phone

Let me know how it works, it seems to have worked for me
 
It worked for me, too.

The next question is "why?" Why does this work? And if it's only clearing out cached data, then will that data be recreated and will the problem recur.

If it does, I'll post back. If it works fine for a few days or more, I'll post that too.

Can't get into recovery for some reason. Tried to follow the instructions, but volume up and power at the warning screen doesn't do anything but restart the phone.
 
Quick question on this, is sound only quieter in music player or is it quieter in things like netflix, youtube, pandora etc also?

Immediately when you see the warning screen hold down the power and volume up for just a second or two, and when you release you should be brought into recovery

For me it was quieter all around, I use shuttle music jsyk, I found it to be quieter in shuttle and YouTube and even the ringtone
 
Well that sucks lol. Speakers are honestly what sets HTC apart from other phones, dont think ill be touching this update then.

I use my phone when in the shower because it actually gets louder than my laptop, would be super pissed if update made it so i couldnt hear my phone in there.
 
Well i said **** it and did the update, speakers were indeed too quiet and the steps outlined by beazpickle did fix it (props man). But like rothe i gotta wonder why this happened and why clearing the cache would fix it. Hope this isnt something i gotta continue to do.
 
Ringtone, all apps, including music and my video player were all quieter after the Kit Kat update.

Yea so what if like me you can't get into recovery?? Then what do you do?

Yea I'm with you on this one, same thing happens to me. It's really annoying considering I'm pretty sure I want my speakers fixed.:mad::mad:
 
I used the exact method I said, same button combos, once you get to the warning screen hold down power and volume up for a couple seconds the let go, if it doesn't work and you're stuck on the warning screen just keep trying that combo for different lengths of time

Ok but what if the problem is that I'm not stuck, but that instead of going into recovery it just restarts my phone?

How did you get the steps to work for you? A friend of mine has the same phone as me and he said the reason why I couldn't get into boot loader was that VM blocks theirs from access. So if you have the same VM phone how did you get to the boot loader without it just restarting your phone?:confused:
 
I dunno man i just followed the steps posted above. I bought my phone from radio shack and yep im on virgin mobile.

Once you see the triangle warning sign you press vol up and power at same time, then it brings you to a screen where at the bottom of the list it says to wipe cache partition, power button selects it then you hit restart phone with power button also.

Not sure why you are having issue, but just follow the steps it should work fine.

Im just still worried im gonna have to do this randomly or if its a one time thing, time will tell i guess.
 
Don't hold power and volume up for more than a second or two and then release. If you keep holding them down your phone will restart.
