Version 1.3 of the R-Value and U-Value calculator is now out.
With this calculator you can work out the effective R-Value or U-Value for a set of materials (with their total width). This is used to work out the required amount of insulating material needed to meet energy efficiency regulations for a given wall, floor or ceiling. Handy for a builder, architect, designer or home owner looking to improve energy efficiency in their project. Also this is useful for quickly comparing the energy efficiencies of different finishes (i.e. single glass pane compared to low E glass and curtains, etc; the results can be quite surprising and cost effective, you don't have to go nuts to reduce your costs).
There are now over 50 built in materials - although if something is not in the extensive list - you can easily add your own materials to use.
You can also use it as an imperial to metric and U to R value converter; plus use a built in calculator to work out effect heat loss (or gain) through a wall of the materials you picked. You can email your results or copy via the clipboard to other apps. This helps you to work out how much difference improving your insulation will make to your bills.
The app is under constant improvement and we welcome feedback to help improve it. All updates are included in the price.
