R2D2 price drop

I saw today on Verizon's website that they dropped the price of the R2D2 Droid phone. I thought they were only supposed to have a limited number of them and expected to sell out of them fast.

I am eligible for an upgrade and wanted to get one but the price had stopped me so i started falling in love with the X, but now that the price is the same i really can't decide. I really like the look of the R2 and feel that i would like the physical keyboard, but the X is so big and beautiful and i feel i could get used to the virtual keyboard.

What are your opinons on the price drop?
How do you feel about the X vs. the R2D2? Which would you recommend?

I'd say DX all day, not because I have one, but because the R2D2 phone is rediculous. I could never use the R2D2 in public out of shame. But I'm not a big Star Wars fan, so it doesn't appeal to me all. As for hardware, I don't remember for sure, but I think the DX is equal to, if not better than the R2D2 in every aspect. And the DX has a bigger screen, bonus!

I would say neither one. Wait a month and get the LTE Incredible HD.

I've long been of the opinion that Motorola should take the money they pay Verizon to maintain that Flagship Smartphone manufacturer spot and put it where its needed most, their quality control.

I've had no problems with my Droid X, but my friends Droid Incredible has burn-in on the screen. In fact, I'd say Motorola has very good build quality overall. Their big downfall before was the clunky and unintuitive UI, but using Android as the basis of the UI fixed that. I've been very happy with the couple Moto phones I've had, as have my friends.

I am glad that you've had no trouble with your Moto devices. But...

I wish I could agree with you, but I can't. With the customer service calls I've taken, not to mention the ones I've listened to from reps I train, Motorola's quality control just isn't getting the job done. There are just far too many hardware support calls. And, we're talking about the company that made the Rival. Which is probably the worst quality phone VZW has sold since they stopped carrying Kyocera devices.

Please note that the statement above is my own personal opinion and is not a direct comment from VZW in any way, shape or form.

I will agree that there is a gap in quality between their high-end phones and other phones. My Droid X has been perfect, but for work we were gived Motorola i465 phones, and those things are garbage.

I think the X is too big for me to use as a phone. I enjoy my R2D2D2 and don't sweat using it in public as it's a lot less embarassing than having a big touch screen next to your face. That looks rediculous to me. A big screen is nice for a MID or something like that, but a phone? Nope. If I don't have my headset handy, I won't want to answer the phone in front of anyone.

I guess I get a pass for being a girl because I just tell people that the only way my phone could possibly be cuter would be if it were pink. It doesn't upset me that they're cheaper now. I am just annoyed that all of the ads said they were only availabe online (a bunch of crap because they had really nice launch parties in the stores.)

I don't know if I would burn an upgrade for it right now as the 4g phones are coming soon. The slow network is the main drawback I experience.
