radio

Mine doesn't do that.

You need a good network connection to get smooth radio streaming; it doesn't need to be super fast but it does need to be of good quality.

So you tried Pandora? And that still cuts out a lot?

Hmm, this is on Wifi right? Have you tried resetting your Router and trying again?

This is definitely a bandwidth issue. Try running a network speed test and post the results. If you are on a public network, you could see other loads taking priority over streaming audio which would make the stream stop as you describe.

Moreover it's an Internet radio issue, not to be confused with FM radio (for those handsets that have FM hardware).

But def bandwidth. I've listened to Internet radio in weakish reception with my phone without problems, but doubt it would work on my favourite railway platform (too little capacity for number of people).

Yes, that expresses it better than I did earlier. It's more about the continuity - smoothness - of the connection than the bandwidth, assuming the bandwidth is adequate. An apparently solid connection with lots of bandwidth can often go "choppy" when lots of people are using it, leading to exactly the symptoms described by the OP. I guess consistent (and low) ping times are a better metric than download speed in this case.

If you want us to explore it further OP you could give us the speed you are currently receiving from your internet provider and maybe the amount of people on said internet at one time.
