Ram Cleaning is always good

Hi folks. I want a very good Ram Cleaner. Ram Clean Up Tool is a very useful app to have on your mobile.

I'm looking for a new better than the one I have.

But the one where I can configure it to a point where if when I'm watching YouTube (process is running), it would rather not to just close it because if RUNNING means I'm watching it...My Ram Cleaner does it now...maybe a tweak is all I really want?? Please help

Thanx

I'll have to respectfully disagree with your thread title, but do you have issues with youtube hogging up data or something when you close it?
You mention "ram clean up tool"...is that an app in the PlayStore?
Ram Clean Up

Ram Cleaning is something that each Android above average user MUST HAVE!! And you're a mod??

If you are going to assert "must have" so strongly, despite it being widely known that these tools (originally known as task killers) are counter productive, I presume you can back that assertion up?

If it's just something you've been told and internalised without question, do a little research. Just ask your favourite search engine why task killers are a bad thing. Check out the phrase "free ram is wasted ram" while you are at it (which is Linux/Android/MacOS ram management reduced to a slogan). Or follow the link in Mike's post.

But I am curious as to how you describe the one you are using as "good" if it's closing YouTube while you are watching it? That behaviour would lead me to classify it as "junk" and remove it immediately, so I wonder why you are so tolerant of an app that is causing problems for you?

Mike's a mod, yes and every other member ofthe mod team will tell you exactly the same thing, as will anyone else who knows anything about how Linux based OS's work. Task killers and RAM cleaners do more harm than good.

As Hadron suggests, do a little research yourself and see what you come up with. If you find any articles/posts which say cleaning RAM is a good thing, please share them with us.

Yes, we will.

Over the years we've had some very long threads discussing this topic.
Why You Don't Need a Task Killer.
is just one example. This thread was from 7 years ago and since then Android memory management has gotten considerably better. For most users who are more familiar with Windows this seems a counter-intuitive concept, but for those with any 'nix experience know it for truth. Now, there are reasons why a task killer/ram cleaner/phone optimizer might give you the feeling that it's making your device perform better, but it's not.

If you want to explore this more, we're happy to discuss it. :)

That's a very lively thread :D I read through most of it, and didn't see any technical justification for using an app killer, or 'RAM cleaner'.
Bottom line is that Android does a very good job of memory management, including killing off (or caching) unused processes. Traditional Unix systems (of which Android is a derivant) implement process memory management by paging and swapping to secondary storage. Android, having no secondary storage device uses process caching to clean up unused memory, and optimise process re-starting. I don't think you really want to be using a separate app to interfere with this basic system management activity.

You're clearly touting opinion as fact. Or are you just trolling the forum?
Android already includes some sophisticated memory management. Third-party apps claiming the to do the same are often more about bling and show than actual functionality. The few that are valid utilities are targeting advanced users, not the typical phone consumer who just wants a working phone.
