Help Random battery drain

Lately I've had a few random times there's been high battery drain on my S7 Edge from different sources. The Weather Channel app has done it a few times....so I was thinking it was just problem with that app until it happened again last night & it ended up being the Play Store. Anyone else experience this?

A texting app I like, (Chomp), did it twice... Clearing the data, and force stopping it fixed it..

But, no one can answer the question, why does it happen in the first place?

Just had it happen again and it was ESPN app....first time for that one.

Facebook and Messenger started doing it yesterday.... Cleared data and cache and it stopped....

FB and messenger apps have always been notorious battery hogs, so i wouldn't read to much into those stats.
