Help Random credit decrease issue

Hello, I have an Alcatel One touch mobile phone, with Orange as my provider. Android: Firmware version 2.3.7

I inherited this phone from my Dad exactly a year ago. It's a pay as you go package. For every £10, there's supposed to be a free months worth of internet. Now, please note, that I very rarely use the internet with this phone and have not used it on this phone in recent months.

For the best part of a year, I've never had issues with this device. Until this week. I topped it up by £15. Next thing, the wireless icon turns green and eats up the entire credit up within a couple of minutes. So next day I had to top it up by another £10. Just before it, I switched it off for a while and back on again. It tells me that I've reached my limit and asks if I want to disable data. I choose "yes". No way do I want a repeat of yesterdays issue. Assuming that I'm now running this phone with internet disabled, I top it up by £10. Few minutes later it does the same thing again, but I managed to switch it off after eating up £3, so I still had £7 left. Once again I switched it back on while disabling data. I then toothcomb the settings and switch everything internet related off. Thing is, it was already off, so it shouldn't have done this. However, syncing was on, so I switched that off. I then checked my balance every hour and at that point it seemed fine.

Today, the message about reaching my data limit came up again just randomly. I never switched my phone off or touch any of the settings. This somehow resulted in another £2 down the drain for nothing that was permitted by me, and I think it's just going to keep behaving this way now.

I've already googled this issue. I know this should be resolved by switching off wireless and internet access, as well as switching off all syncing. I have done all this without success. It just continues to help itself to my credit at random. More to the point, I should be getting at least a months internet free, and there's no way that I ever come close to reaching the limit.

I definitely feel entitled to a refund of at least £15 from Orange. I have written to Oranges complaints department detailing everything, but like I said, this behaviour is continuing randomly. I can't switch my phone off either, because there are times I'm needed in emergencies. But I won't get a reply until next week at the earliest, and really need to stop it from doing this in between that time.

Sorry for being longwinded. Its better to give all the possible details of the issue in my experience on forums.
