Razr and razr maxx similarities

Do the razr and the maxx have the same software on them? Do they both take the same root method, ROMs,etc? Or are the specific for each device.

They are the same device except for the battery capacity.

The cases and car window cradle/holders for them are different as well, due to size, otherwise as above ^^^ all same but the battery.
