Razr not the thinnest Smartphone?

I just read an article on Esato about the announcement of the Razr and they stated that because of the hump at the top it is not the thinnest smartphone and that SGS II is still thinner. They also calculated that the hump should be around 10.8mm thick.

I thought about that and decided to validate that claim. In order to do that I checked the photos available on-line and calculated that the hump takes 15-17%.

To calculate the average thickness of the phone with the hump takin 15%:

10.8mm x 15 = 162
7.1 x 85 = 603.5
162 + 603.5 = 765.5

That means the average weighted thickness of this phone is 7.655mm and makes it the thinnest smartphone on the market.

To calculate the average thickness of the phone with the hump takin 17%:

10.8mm x 17 = 183.6
7.1mm x 83 = 589.3
183.6 + 589.3 = 772.9

That means that the average weighted thickness of the phone is 7.729mm and that means it is still the thinnest smartphone o nthe market.

To calculate the average thickness of the phone with the hump takin 20%:

20 x 10.8 = 216
80 x 7.1 = 568
216 + 568 = 784

Still the average weighted thickness is 7.84mm.

P.S. I am no mathematician and finished school a long time ago so please let me know if I made a mistake somewhere and correct me.

Lmaooo...Your determined to prove who has the thinnest phone on the market huh!

Haha, rather make sure no more urban legends are created. Like the one with extended batteries not being available for the Razr even though there are loads of external batteries that are much more versatile than the typical extended ones.

When it comes out and we have a million Youtude videos with people showing the Razr next to the iphone 4s and SG2 the whole world will see who's got the Thinnest smart phone....Razzzzzzr.

My buddys Supervisor from vzw had it in hand...he said Sean its impossibility thin, pics do it no justice!

You're only making it worse. It will be even harder to wait patiently till it is released and delivered!

I don't think they claim its the thinnest smartphone but the claim is the thinnest LTE smartphone. It is in fact the thinnest LTE smart phone as its already thinner than the Galaxy Nexus and the Galaxy Nexus LTE version is thicker still.

No, they claim it is the thinnest smartphone. I disagree because the thickness specification should take the hump into account. However, it is still thin over most of the phone.

Personally, I'm not looking for a thinner phone because it makes holding it more difficult.

Nope, all advertising says thinnest LTE smartphone. Also, the hump at the top of the phone is actually a natural place for your fingers to rest and makes it easy to hold. The hump on the bottom of Samsungs phones makes it harder to hold IMO.

The initial announcement event simply said thinnest smartphone. The was no LTE caveat. I'm not even sure it's true amongst LTE phones once you take the hump into account.

I think even with the hump it is still thinner than any other current lte phones.

Seriously...why is anyone even disagreeing? Its thinner then the iphone, and the hump is mayyyyyyyyyybe the same size as the Fruit 4. There were a ton of videos showing them together.

At the end of the day...Its just down right thin like u said...LTE or not!

Plus the hump they use isn't as large as previous hunps on dx and the likes.

If the RAZR is 10.8mm, than it is thicker than the iPhone.

At the end of the day, don't try to bs people. First, it was thinnest smartphone...if you exclude the thickest part (which they didn't say). Now its the thinnest LTE phone.

And again, i don't really want a thinner phone because out hurts ergonomics.

Where did you see it is 10.8 with the hump?

Man the more I see it live the more I can't wait to get a hold of this thing. Awesome piece of hardware. Nothing comes close to this handset with aesthetics.....bad arse.
