RAZR now FREE on contract :O

Moto razr is included in this sale for $0.01. For new customers only. Good deal for newbies or if you want to get a phone and dont have a upgrade you only pay $350.01 with the ETF. Alot better than the $650? it would cost outright from a vzw store.

This is annoying. Why do only new customers get the deals. The carriers are encouraging us to jump ship every two years in order to get the deals on the phones.

Can anyone tell me if my idea for being able to take advantage of this will work?

I have 2 phones that are out of contract. Could I port the numbers to a different carrier then port them back to take advantage of this?

Or would be be possible/better to add a 3rd line on then port the number to the new line somehow or would I have to go to a new carrier then come back to Verizon?

Any thoughts on if this is possible or if issues will result?

Basically, add a new line of service to your existing plan, get it for a penny, then cancel that line. No need to port numbers or do any of that crap.

Does anyone know what the amazon terms and conditions are for vz service, i tried to find them on their site, but amazon wants me to give them my personal info before i can see what they are, basically will i be charged and etf if i add a line and then flip it to another line, and cancel the new line, i am pretty sure there is an etf, can anyone confirm this and the price for the etf, thanks. Nevermind i found it http://wireless.amazon.com/help/200364580/. for $250 etf thats not bad.

Can you just cancel a new line that easily? Certainly there has to be ETF's or some kind of safeguard against people doing that. If not, I'll be getting a RAZR for free possibly, but i doubt it would work that easily.

The way I read the info from Amazon... If you don't activate and keep a line associated with this device for 181 consecutive days, in addition to Verizon's ETF you will also be charged $250 by Amazon WIreless. THat is how they try to prevent buying and running.

That won't work. It says right on Amazon's site that the line has to be kept for 180 days or you own them a bunch of money.

"When you purchase your device with service from AmazonWireless.com, we automatically pass along an instant discount from the carrier to you. This discount has been provided to you based on your agreement to (a) activate a new, or extend an existing, line of service for this device with the carrier, and (b) maintain this service in good standing for a minimum of 181 consecutive days. If you do not activate or extend a line of service in connection with this device, or if your service is canceled/disconnected before 181 consecutive days, AmazonWireless.com will charge you $250 per device, plus applicable taxes."

So now we know that simply canceling the line won't work so does anyone know if there is another solution that might work for someone that is 100% out of contract?

Does line = phone number?

My wife's looking to go from dumbphone (well past upgrade date) to a smartphone. Can I activate the phone on the family plan, swap the phone # and later on cancel the old line?

Just add a line for 9.99 and switch your new device to your primary line, and have the VZ Rep put either a test ESN or an old non smartphone ESN on the new line. you end up paying 239.76 plus a 25.00 activation fee. This is good for anyone who wants a new phone, but is on contract.

Hi,

I have a family plane with 4 lines on VZW that is now out of contract and just going month-to-month.

We would like to get smartphones from this deal and keep our numbers but also stay on VZW.

Can we cancel existing service and just get new service? If we did that, would we lose our numbers? I am guessing we can't port from VZW to VZW.

Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot!

Yeah I'm pretty annoyed at this. I just switched to Verizon on Friday and got the Razr. Now, I'm within my 14 days so I could take the phone back and cancel my contract, but then I'd loose my phone number. The phone number I've had to 11 years. The only phone number I have, since I don't have a land line. :(

ALL i know is i saw this, this morning and about crapped myself....

been thinking of switching anyway....bought a few used phones till i decided on the prime or not....

saw this and said screw it.....called them up and ported my crap over....

now i am going to have to pay an ETF at sprint bought the photon, but before the 9-1 deadline whew....but i am going to ask them to reduce it anyway due to lack of their crap working right:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: we will see how that goes....

but got me and the wife one (her 1st smart phone:eek::eek::eek::eek:)

$600 worth of phone for $.02 cha ching

I just switched from at&t to get this deal. I'll have to pay $175 for contract termination to at&t, but I can sell my moto atrix for $100 - $150 to offset that. It's well worth it to get a phone that sells for $300 with new contracts. Also, it'll be nice since i have lte coverage at home and work. Throw in the double data, so 4gb of data that verizon is offering right now, even when u order through amazon, and it's just icing on the cake.

Any thoughts on this vs the Rezound, which is also a penny?

when u get the rezound, ur paying for the beats brand and headphones and in return getting a really thick phone. That said, the thickness might not bother some people, and the curved thickness may make it fit "snugly" into ur hand. At least it is lte tho and the 720p super lcd screen is pretty nice.
