RAZR & RAZR Maxx update

dsine

Lurker
I know this may be rehashing the issue but here goes. First off I believe these phones are very well built, but with all the issues since Ice cream sandwich came out its crazy that we have not had a workable update from Motorola. There are just to many issues to mention here, but at least once a week I have to hard reboot my RAZR Maxx to keep it from being completely annoying. If things don't change I may jump ship and go with the GS3. Sorry for venting but just frustrated!

What issues? I have had no issues at all since upgrading.
Did you reset your phone after update?
Its mentioned quite a few times in these posts.

I don't know what a "hard reboot" is. Please explain.

In the Bionic community everyone did a Factory Data Reset after installing ICS and there were ZERO reported problems. When someone came up reporting off the wall problems ... the first question was ... did you do an FDR? ... the answer was always no ... they then did the FDR and the problem was gone.

FDR all the way. I got ICS on my RAZR before I upped to the RMHD. I wasn't really having any problems, but did the FDR anyway.

it's a given anytime there's a SYSTEM update. a minor patch isn't squat... but going from GB to ICS, or ICS to JB, it's almost a given.

Heck, I just did another FDR recently because my notification light had begun going off at inexplicable intervals (i.e. I didn't have any notifications that I could tell)).

With Titanium Backup it's a fairly quick and painless process.

I had no problems with my Razr after updating to ICS...
I also dual botted ICS and Jelly bean using Safestrap:DD
All i can say is that JB has a lot,a lot,a lot of bugs,i cant even use apps normally, black screen flashing :D

Maybe because it isn't the official jb?

Yeah, I jumped ship to the Note II.

The ICS update made the fonts and status bar icons on my RAZR MAXX too small and/or dim to read. :(

No other problems though.

My first Droid Razr Maxx lasted exactly 14 days... then my next phone's on/off switch would not turn on my phone... phone #3 seems fine but I am SICK AND TIRED of the innumerable software updates post ICS installation... WTF!!!! This phone has bugs and I truly believe it has known flaws that Motorola is hiding... all this in just SIX MONTHS!!!

I am seriously moving to Samsung...

Seriously? You posted this same post in ANOTHER thread??? LOL!

In all seriousness, the RAZR MAXX (and my previous X2) are both well-built phones. The RAZR has been MORE stable than my X2, and my X2 was very stable.

As for the software updates, are you talking from the Play Store? That's normal whether you're on ICS or Gingerbread. As for system updates, those are rare, so that's why I have to assume you are talking about updates to the software from Play Store. Again, that is normal, so I'm not sure what you're complaining about. At least the developers are constantly updating their software. In fact, a lot of the updates are to make sure their apps work under JB, so once the RAZR MAXX and OG RAZR get JB, your apps will work more times than not.

I believe his 'Hard Reboot' is just completely turning off phone and restarting. It not the same as Data Factory Reset.

"hard reboot" has at least three different meanings and that is the reason I asked for clarification.

Power off/power on
Soft Reset or Battery Pull
Boot into recovery

I suggest using one of the three and permanently retire the phrase "hard reboot".

Yes!!

From what I have seen of JB on my Note II, I expect that JB will improve my RAZR MAXX which I still use part time on my 2nd line (I am now a -2- smartphone-aholic!! :D )
