RE: Test Background Check (Keeps displaying in the Notification Bar)

Rico ANDROID

Constantly receiving the message in my notification bar:

Test Background Check
Test Update Check - Background

As far as market apps goes, i have each downloaded app auto-update "Unchecked" and have the market notification turned off.....

Anyone else getting this msg constantly? Any ideas what this is?

I noticed that you have the Dell Streak, which is what I have as well. I have been getting this also. The notification icon is a Quick Office icon.

I clicked the notification. It opens the browser and downloads a file named "download.php" which is 5.94 MB in size.

I emailed the file to myself to see what was inside. I opened the file with Notepad++, did a search on quickoffice and found 4 instances of that word. I did a search on other app names that are on my phone and did not find any.

I'm certain it's a Quickoffice thing... not sure why it is happening. I'm still researching this. If I find anything, I will give you a update.

YES you are correct! Its a QuickOffice Icon! And very coincidental that its occurring on your Dell Streak too! I am glad to hear from you, I was thinking this was an isolated issue.

Please do post your findings here! Im sure there are more Streak Owners out there thats getting this notification as well

Thanks!

Hi Jody! I think weve got an answer! I have two Streaks, the second phone started receiving the same notice... It was the new Android Market ota push. The market update was associating the QuickOffice icon while processing. Whew! glad thats all it was.

Have you gotten the market 3.3.11 update?

UPDATE:
Hey Jody, might want to continue researching, the QuickOffice icon continues to display in our navigation bar when the streak boots up. Either more ota's or updates occuring (using the QO icon) or it "is" QuickOffice itself trying to push a "purchase update" on our devices where we dont want it.
