Apps Reading firebase android studio

i have a database on firbase that i can dd to using an app ive cretedin java on android studio,, the items child is the user uid and then each item is pushed in creating their own unique id. what i am looking to do is before adding a new item i want tocheck to see if there is an item in the table that already has the same title as the user is trying to use.
