Thanks for the answers. Have settled on downloading the pdf version of the paper and reading it with "ezPDFReaderLite" and it works really well. Thanks again; Bob
You know what I just realized that you just ordered a Tab 8. Please don’t take this the wrong way but you are making a big mistake. Especially if you are new to tablets. First the Tab 8 is not a good tablet for the price that Samsung is asking for, not only that but it was an obsolete tablet last year when it was introduced. The CPU inside is not only below average but old now as it was first introduced in October 2010 and then released with the Samsung Tab 7.7 in early 2011, yep you just bought a tablet with a more than 3 year old CPU in it. The Tab 3 8 is also currently at the lower end of the specifications chart for a tablet sold in 2014. For example a $200 Amazon Kindle 7 HDX has a AnTuTu (a popular bench-marking tool) score of 32,835, whereas the $250 Samsung Tab 3 8 has a score of 10,389, the average score being 13,292. Now a 3,000 point score might not sound much to but you have to keep in mind that average is filled with tablets at the 150 to 200 dollars price range making the Tab 8 a bad buy. Now many will swear that there is nothing wrong with the Tab 8’s speed as it’s plenty fast for them, keyword there being, “for them”, meaning their compromising for some reason, either they didn’t do their homework, just don’t know any better or are have had the window for them to return it close. Please, I have no ulterior motives here as I really don’t care what you do with your money but the Tab 8 is not for you.
So what do I recommend, a
Dell Venue 8 Pro, I wanted an Android tablet though you might be thinking to yourself, well from what I read above there’s no reason why this couldn't serve you well. It’s a brilliant tablet and the talk of the internet, there isn't a gadget site that hasn't got completely apeshitt over this device and hasn't given it glowing reviews. It has a Intel 64bit QuadCore CPU that is faster than almost every ARM CPU out there, 2GB of DDR3 RAM (Tab 3 1.5GB DDR2), 32GB of storage though a 64GB version is available(Tab 3 only has 16GB), the SSD storage is much, much faster than any found in a Android device, active digitizer pen, Miracast, NFC, includes Office 2013. If you’re an investor then the amount of trading applications and aids available for Windows outnumbers Android 20 to 1 including your magazine, not to mention you can also run your Trading and charting software on it. Real Multitasking, fast enough to be used as a desktop machine, no compromises here. This is the tablet you want sir, run, don’t walk to the telephone or computer and cancel the order for the Tab 8 immediately ,why, because this is going to blow you away, you ready, it’s the same price as the Tab 3 8, yep, you read that correctly, 250 dollars for the 2GB 32GB version and 300 dollars for the 64GB. If you buy the 64GB version from Costco you get a case and stylus for 334 dollars. Buying the Tab 3 8 knowing that this exists and is exactly the same price is not a very smart investment, like I stated above the Tab 3 8 will already be outdated the second you open that box.
So what do you think, do have any questions? If you still want a Android tablet please let me know and I will give you a list of the ones you should be looking at. As you stated before this is your first tablet, please don't make it a bad one.
