Ready to jump from iphone to S3! Questions inside

Hey everyone, Newbie here :)

I've been doing a bit of research and playing around, I think its time to leave the iPhone world...Apple's IOS has become insanely stale and these updates are a joke , iOS6 was the finally straw. So Ive been fooling around with the Galaxy 3, and I gotta say really impressive!

So I have a few questions before jumping ship from the iphone world. BTW I do jailbreak, so some questions will stem off of that.

1. How much better is network connection (Signal) with carrier's network and with WIFI, is it stronger than the iphone 4?

2. I know the battery is larger than the iphones, but does it last much longer? What has been your experience on it? I can usually get through a whole day no problem with my IP4.

3. I hear a lot of complaining about using the S3 outside, is it really that bad seeing the screen outside?

4. This stems off my jailbreak....With jail break when I received a text message, I could text back from anywhere on the screen or lockscreen. Can android do this too? Or must you open up the messages app to reply?

5. What is your opinion on samsungs touchwiz and does it hinder android at all?

6. If you could list a few negatives you really dislike about the phone

7. Is there any reason to wait and not get this phone? Or should I go ahead and make the purchase?

8. Do you think Jellybean will be out for the S3 within the next month or 2 on AT&T?

Thank you so much!

1. How much better is network connection (Signal) with carrier's network and with WIFI, is it stronger than the iphone 4?

Cannot answer that.

2. I know the battery is larger than the iphones, but does it last much longer? What has been your experience on it? I can usually get through a whole day no problem with my IP4.

1 day is the standard. Mine lasts at least 16 hours.

3. I hear a lot of complaining about using the S3 outside, is it really that bad seeing the screen outside?

I livein a country where the sun is out 330 days a year and I survive. I use Lux Dash to set high brightness outside.

4. This stems off my jailbreak....With jail break when I received a text message, I could text back from anywhere on the screen or lockscreen. Can android do this too? Or must you open up the messages app to reply?

You can do that with HAndcent or SMS Popup without rooting.

5. What is your opinion on samsungs touchwiz and does it hinder android at all?

Only brings more goodies like SmartStay etc. It is not very intrusive.

6. If you could list a few negatives you really dislike about the phone

Not much. The back is slippery, so I replaced it with a leathery one.

7. Is there any reason to wait and not get this phone? Or should I go ahead and make the purchase?

Do not buy it if you only want a row of icons on your screen. If you want 100x more, do not even wait a second.

8. Do you think Jellybean will be out for the S3 within the next month or 2 on AT&T?

Hard to say, but I think it will.[/QUOTE]

Thank you so much!

No problem. Hope I helped.

Let's see if I can answer these questions Keep in mind, I have never owned and never will own an iPhone:

1. I believe the answer to this question can vary depending on location. However I can say that the signal strength on the S3 is exceptional. I rarley ever have trouble connecting to AT&T's network. I have also never had any issues connecting over WiFi.

2. My battery will last me an average of 15-25 hours depending how much I actually use the phone. I'm usually pretty heavy on usage too. I do quite a bit of web browsing and texting along with 2 or 3 phone calls on a daily basis.

3. I've have yet to be in a situation where I cannot see the screen. Shows up outside very well in my experience.

4. The stock messaging app cannot do this although there is an app called Handcent on the Play store that does have popup message and respond features. With the stock messaging app, a notification will appear in the status bar that you can pull down and click to open the messaging app and respond. If you get a text when you're not using the phone, an envelope icon with a unread text count under it will appear on the lock screen which you can tap and slide to unlock directly to the unread text and respond to it from there.

5. I do not care for Touch Wiz personally. I use a third party launcher/homescreen app called Go Launcher EX. There are many third party launchers available on Android that you can choose from. In my experience, they all offer more features and options that stock manufacturer launchers. Some other launchers you can look up are Nova Launcher and Apex Launcher.

6. I honestly cannot think of anything I do not like. The S3 is the best phone money can buy and I did not pick it so I could find things that I don't like about it.

7. Absolutely no reason to wait. Go ahead and buy it if you are financially prepared to make the purchase.

8. I'm also with AT&T and I think they will have the Jelly Bean update available by the end of November if not in October. Of course this is based purley on speculation. Do not take any of that seriously as that is just my best guess at the moment.

Hope this helps you make up your mind and I hope even more that you decide to go with obviously better phone. :D
