[Theme] 928Droid Black Glass X for DROID 2 !!! - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum

Just gorgeous...I deodexed my Droid so I could apply the deodex version of this theme, as some options can only be controlled on a deodexed ROM.

This theme is so well done - one of the best I've ever seen.

Built for stock ROMs (he covers the D2, DX, and D1).

Applying over a custom D2 ROM might work...reported to work over Epic 2.0. Doing so might put back some apps that Epic does not include, since this theme is built over the stock 2.2 OS.

Do a nandroid before applying...

Just noticed a nice benefit:

The Gmail app included w/this theme is the newest one, newer than the one in the D2 stock ROM, and includes noticeable performance improvements AND a Reply/Forward icon in the email header, so you don't have to scroll to the bottom of the email to access those features.

That's nice...it may actually add apps back in that Epic removes, since the theme is based pretty much on stock D2.

curious as to how to install this...i just rooted today for the first time and love the way this looks...i am downloading this to my computer now...what do i do next to get this going?

There are two versions, deodexed and odexed...

Stock Android (rooted or not) is odexed...you can tell by looking in the /System directory - you'll see a bunch of files w/the "ODEX" extension - one for each APK file.

You can remove those ODEX files (aka Deodex) which can help w/performance and make the ROM easier to theme/modify.

A tool called Xultimate can be used to deodex your Droid 2 (google it, or look for the links in the 928Droid theme thread).

You don't have to deodex, 928Droid has released odex and deodex versions of his theme.

Read the thread to understand that there are differences between the two - there are some things that can't be managed as well w/a odexed system.

You apply the theme by using Clockwork Recovery - the install zip from sd card option.

If you want to wait a couple of days, the author of the theme is planning on releasing a new update that will deodex your phone and install his theme...unless you're in a hurry might be worth waiting a couple of days to see if it shows up.

Whatever you do, do a nandroid backup before you make any changes.

And you will be sure to let us know when this is released, right? :D

I don't really care for this whole theme, never have (sorry :( )
Am I able to pick and choose APKs from his zip, like I have done on the D1 in the past?

Also, is there a performance decrease, lag, FC with this theme?

Hence your screen name. ;) This is my favorite theme ever - we'll just agree to disagree, I'm right, and you're Inssane. :D LOL...

No change in performance or battery life for me on this, and don't remember complaints on that in the theme threads...two people did just complain about battery issues after installing BG in another thread here, but those are the only posts like that that I remember seeing. I've had zero FCs.

You could certainly try cherry picking APKs if you just want part of this theme...just do a nandroid backup before you start playing so you can get back if something goes wrong.

Just ran a Quadrant and got a 1431, right in line w/what I got before I applied the theme.

Good deal red.

I like things "monochrome"-ish
You know, all blues, or greens, etc. I don't care for all the multicolors.

And yes nandroid - I am a backup freak
