RealPlayer Cloud - transcoding made easy

It's great, much better than tab casting with Plex.

I think I'm up to 5.6GB or something. I keep meaning to add my link to the referral code thread we have in the apps subforum :o.

I don't have anything needing transcoding yet but it sure sounds like the right solution to me.

I hate the cloud as much as the next guy but you're already there with Chromecast anyway.

I suppose some will want to keep entire collections there and I can see that.

For me, I'll only need something here or there, so shuffling in and out doesn't seem like a problem for me and in that example, a few gigs is plenty.

Free, no additional home servers, no mind-numbing combination of apps and configuration nightmares.

I gather from the comments that it could do with a bit of robustness fixes but so did Dropbox when it was new.

I imagine that some of the multi stream MKV files might still be a problem but those were a problem long before Chromecast came along.

I get the beef with the cloud, but I've a fairly meaty, unthrottled data allowance so I'm slowly coming to terms with it. The 25GB dropbox I got free with my One X runs out in April so I need to look for alternatives anyway, if I move videos to realplayer I have the added ability of casting too.

Only tried MP4's so far, so can't comment on transcoding. I think some of the videos I took of Mancub when he was younger on an old dumbphone were a pretty weird format so I'll give them a go, see what happens.

I've been using it for a few weeks, there are occasions where it doesn't pick up the chromecast, but reloading the tab sorts it. It's only about one in ten shots anyway.

tl;dr - I love it, I'd definitely recommend giving it a go. :)

Not conclusive by any stretch of the imagination.
