Rebooting program?

Is there an app that you can set to power down and reboot your system? When I had a blackberry, it would always reboot at 3:14am (my birthday)

Or do you not suggest using such an app?

searching for "reboot" does give a number of results, but no scheduled ones I think.

Why do you (think you) need this? I don't mean to sound condescending, just trying to understand your point of view.

Rebooting would probably not make any difference. It certainly would not "reset everything" (thankfully!), so you'd still have all your settings and so on. Some apps (for instance 3rd-party keyboards) are set to auto-launch at boot, so in reality the only change you would get from a reboot is a cleared "Recent Apps" list.

I can see the benefit of such an app. Can anyone say they never re-boot there phone due to it getting a bit sluggish? I re-boot mine about once a week, sometimes longer sometimes shorter. With an app to re-boot the phone during the night you'd always start the day with a 'fresh' phone so wouldn't need to do a weekly re-boot. Granted it doesn't take much to do it, but it does take a while to boot up so eliminating that can only be for the good.

There is a post here which offers a solution if you are rooted and willing to spend money on it.

There is also this thread but it apprently does not work with the HTC Hero.

exactly Bluenova .. my phone is s-l-u-g-g-i-s-h to where I am very frustrated. I don't know what to do. When I had my BB, and resetting it, cleared everything for me. I am very frustrated about the lag... and I don't feel comfortable rooting the phone. ARGH.

There's a known issue with the 1.5 OS and the location software where it doubles up on processes every time they are called, meaning the handset gets slower and slower during the day. I reboot my G2/Hero every morning and agree that a scheduled re-boot would be a very useful app.
