reccomend budget android for use as mp3 player

Hey guys,

Looking for some input, I reviewed a few other threads but they get old fast with new devices always coming out.

I'm looking for a reliable but simple android based device. I listen to a lot of audio books in various formats and after searching can't find a good mp3 player(good luck finding your place on a 30 hour file...)

The best I have found is using my phone and using the Mortplayer app.

So I want a smallish(5in screen max) android device that I can run mortplayer on, external memory is a must(preferably up to 32 gb, responsive controls, and decent battery life.

I don't mind if its a phone and I just turn off the cell signal nor do I mind if its a cheap Chinese one, just so long as its decent.

Any input??

Thanks!

Oh, forgot to add, the two I am looking at right now are the Motorola Moto G and the discontinued Galaxy Media Players(basically an S3 without the cell capabilities).

Last option is I get a new Cell (S5 maybe) and keep my S3 as the mp3 player...

You could get the LG Volt it has a 4.7 inch display. Supports up to 32 GB micoSD card.

The phone has crazy battery life as well. You can pickup the phone for around 130 dollars

I use my Moto G as a media player myself. Just be sure to look at the model with an SD card slot; LTE version I believe.
No need to get this year's model, last year's is still fine (and a smaller screen).

i bought a used galaxy s off ebay for use as a media player last year. cost 30 bucks i think, and my little boy uses it to watch local media and netflix.

i don't recommend the galaxy s, as it is running gingerbread, but you get the idea. just get an older but quality used phone. for this purpose i would like a replaceable battery, as you don't know how much life would be left.

Thanks for all the input fellas.

I am really leaning towards the LG Volt for batt life and expansion capabilities. I have about 120 gb worth of audio books and I am seeing people who say the volt can take a 64 gb sd card. not sure if they are right or not, but it'll be 32 at the very least.

But to save cash, I'm now considering a bad esn card phone. I can get a Galaxy mini s3 for around $50. Smaller, which I am fine with as it'll be for audio not video, and decent quality....

dumb@$$! I just remembered I still have my old HTC Aria.... hmmm.... I wonder if I can update the OS on it.....

ETA - also wonder if I can find it
