Receiving Messaged from Blocked Number

If I blocked a number from calling/sending messages, if I then unblock them, can I 'refresh' messages in anyway to see if they have sent any during that time? Or if I unblock them, will the messages automatically then come through? Is there a way of forcing the messaging app to do a check.

I've had messages come through from this blocked number after unblocking previously but I've no idea how I go it to do so.

It's the standard client Samsung Android messaging app being used.

First it's important to understand how text and voice messages work. The call is placed or text sent by a phone that is then transmitted over the carrier network. It is routed to the proper device and then handed to your phone for you to accept or decline. If you decline (block) a voice call, it would go directly into voicemail if you account was setup to include voicemail. A text that is rejected (blocked) will attempt to resend for a specified period of time until that time expired or the message goes through.

Calls should be listed as missed calls on your statement details, although there won't be anything to indicate that they were blocked or simply missed accept maybe the time. A missed call will ring for 20 or 30 seconds before going to voicemail . A blocked call (or when you have no signal or the phone is off) will go immediately into voicemail. A blocked text, once failed I think just goes into limbo. I can't recall ever seeing a failed text on my statement, only completed ones.

If you block a number and then re-enable it, you might get the most recent text, but that's about it.
