Receiving texts late

[Android Question]

I have a Samsung galaxy sII from straight talk. I've had no problems what's so ever with it til now. In my house that is in des Moines ia, I haven't had bars so I can't get texts nor calls. Now I have 3-5 bars at all timed yet my calls only sometimes go through and my texts are late as well as I'm not allowed to make texts or calls. What's wrong with the phone my dad has a my touch powered by straight talk and his is working perfectly fine.

A factory reset should fix most issues with the phone, however another suggestion is to reboot into recovery and clear the cache, I found this helps me when I move out of my low signal apartment to somewhere with full bars. Tedious at times, but it helps.
