I'm trying to record audio (from my radio if that matters) via the headphone jack on my HTC Hero/T-Mobile G2 on the standard 2.1update1 rom. I've downloaded a few programs that record but they all just do the on-board mic.
I'm sure it must be possible and I actually managed it by accident, I plugged the 3.5mm into the output of my radio and as I was plugging it into the phone I noticed if I didn't plug it all the way in so it just sat inside loosely instead of the normal headphone icon coming up at the top a headset icon came up instead.
I thought that was odd and sure enough when I recorded again it picked up the radio and recorded it. So it clearly is technically possible but why is it only working with the 3.5mm cable only loosely sitting in the slot? If I push it all the way in the icon changes to the normal headphone icon and the phone reverts to recording via the mic.
Is it down to the cable I'm using? It's just a standard 3.5mm - 3.5mm cable. I suppose I could record with it hanging out but it's not very practicle and surely is going to hinder quality.
Thanks
