Help Recover deleted folders

I had my Galaxy S7 conected to my laptop to move some files across. The screen froze and I close the window, when it opened all folders were duplicated. I was deleting each of the duplicate files, next thing I know all of the folders have gone!!!

There is nothing in the laptops recycle bin.

Dont suppose anyone knows if I can recover the files?

If they were on the removable SD card, easily: stick it in a card reader (don't use it in the meanwhile) and run your favourite file recovery software.

If they were on the phone's internal storage, probably not. The connection to the computer is MTP rather than USB Mass Storage, and you won't be able to run file recovery over that. If the folders were on the phone then there won't be anything in the laptop's recycle bin, by definition really.

Thought that was going to be the answer. Bugger! Luckily a lot of the important folders had been moved. Thanks for answering.
