Recurring Messages

Lurker
On startup, or soon after I receive 4 messages from one telco(Telstra) and one message from another(Smart).

The Telstra messages are old(March and April 2017) and welcome me to Roaming and the one from Smart is a few days old about trying to access data service. I have data switched off.

I receive these messages even with both SIM cards removed and I uninstalled 2 message apps and have only the default Android message app.

These messages are really annoying but I have no idea where I can remove them. Help please!

When you press on the message, does it open the regular texting app? If yes, did you try deleting the message?

Thank you for replying.

Yes, they do all open in the messaging app and I can see details and they are both old deleted messages.

I delete again but they reappear on next startup.

I would suggest you clear data of the messaging app (settings>apps>[name of the app]>storage>clear data) but that's going to delete all you messages. (Using an app to backup the message might also backup the unwanted message)

Let's see if anyone has a better suggestion.

I'm only using the default Android messaging app and I don't see where I can edit anything in that app other than delete all threads. Using another app I did as suggested, but these old messages keep reappearing.

The default messaging app doesn't appear in apps in Settings or any app management app that I install.

Go to all apps from your home screen, long press on the messaging app and drag it to the app info on top of the screen there press on storage and delete data (have in mind that this will delete all your messages)

I tried that and it didn't work, so I disabled the default Android messaging app, leaving me with no messaging app. I restarted and the messages appeared in Notifications, top of screen but there was no messaging app to open them in. So the messages are coming from the phone storage somewhere, because I still get them with no SIM card installed and no messaging app operational!

I installed Textra and there are all the messages, still not deleted.
