Refurbished Galaxy S8, no mobile data.

Hi, I just received a refurbished Samsung Galaxy S8 yesterday. The phone is in great condition. After inserting my SIM card calls, texts, and wifi work great but I can't connect to the data network. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the APN settings but they are greyed out so I can't edit them.

APN is an obvious possibility if mobile data is the only thing not working.

If they are non-editable you should still be able to see (most of) the settings, so may be worth comparing them anyway. Two possibilities which occur to me are:

1) can you add a new one manually (or two, if your provider uses a separate APN for MMS) and then switch to that? It may not let you add a second one with the same name, of course.

2) maybe call your service provider and see whether they can do anything (e.g. whether a SIM update can fix it).

What model of S8 do you have? It will be something similar to SM-G950x
And which carrier do you use and in which country?
